Riverside Mountain Lodge
These days it’s nearly impossible to obtain a permit to build on the banks of any river in the state of California, which is one of the reasons a stay at the Riverside Mountain Lodge is so special. This historic two-story lodge has been updated to include modern amenities but sits on the original location right on the banks of the Yuba and Downie Rivers. Carriage House Lofts
Looking for a little more space than a standard hotel room? The Carriage House Lofts give guests apartment-style living in a fully furnished apartment, complete with a kitchen, full-size private bathrooms, TV, and balcony. These lofts are centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants, bars, cafes, and the local bike shop.

Downie Manor/Quarters
Enjoy a stay at the Downville Manor, a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house, or the Downieviie Quarter featuring a separate beautiful suite featuring a queen-sized bed. Both have views of the Downie River and Pearl Street Bridge. The Manor has a large kitchen, and formal dining area Wi-Fi and can comfortably accommodate 10 people. The Quarters has a fireplace, dining room table, reading nook, full stainless steel kitchen bathroom with tub, high-speed wireless internet and more.

Downieville River Inn
Located on the banks of the North Yuba River in the Tahoe National Forest, the Downieville River Inn offers rooms and cottages for guests. Each offers comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and a porch or balcony to take in the scenery. Amenities include gardens, a picnic area, a BBQ grill, a sauna, and a pool. The location also offers a short walk to downtown Downieville shops and restaurants.
Costa House
The Costa House is a beautiful three-bedroom home on four acres of land, perfect for bikers, couples, or families that want to experience all that the Sierras have to offer with more room to spread out. The house has been updated with a new gas fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and a beautiful deck. There is room for up to six guests, but there’s an option to rent an additional one-bedroom studio with its own full bathroom for a total of eight guests.
Sierra Shangri-La Bridge House
The Sierra Shangri-La Bridge House is one of the most unique lodging accommodations in the country. The 3,400 square foot house was designed by distinguished San Francisco architect Francis Joseph McCarthy. The home features four bedrooms and three and a half baths and straddles a mountain stream tributary of the North Fork of the Yuba River. Every room has stunning views of the surrounding waterfalls, pools, and mountain foliage. It is surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest, yet only three miles from downtown Downieville.
Big Springs Retreat Center
The Big Springs Meditation Retreat Center (proposed project) is a proposed expansion of the existing Big Springs Garden resort, which is located on an approximately 118-acre property located directly off
Highway 49 on a privately maintained road, approximately 1.9 miles northeast of the community of Sierra City, in Sierra County, California. Coming in Spring of 2024.
The Lure Resort
The Lure Resort features eight luxurious cabins located on the banks or the North Yuba River. The accommodations have full amenities including high ceilings, spacious decks, bedrooms with new beds, and kitchens that feature new appliances, kitchenware, and more. All cabins have housekeeping and they are the most modern place to stay in Downieville.

Camping
Whether you want to spend your entire stay camping in Downieville or only prefer to experience a night or two under the stars, the area offers plenty of options for as rustic or amenity-filled an experience as you desire. Indian Valley Outpost Resort
This locally owned and operated Mom & Pop campground is on the Yuba River, offering RV hookups and fully furnished teepees. Ask about the 5-star group cabin that sleeps 11 for larger parties!
Sardine Campground
This is a 29-site campground, with 15 of those having space for trailers, and the camp is set up with vault toilets and piped water. There is fishing and swimming right on Sardine Lake, with a number of other high mountain lakes in the area nearby.
Loganville
Loganville Campground in the Sierra Buttes has fantastic facilities in a shaded area densely populated with oak and fir trees.
Wild Plum Campground
Located on Haypress Creek, Wild Plum has plenty of access to hiking trails, swimming, and fishing right from the campground.
Sierra Streamside Resort
Resort-style camping comes with cabins with full kitchens as well as RV site options. The campground is located just four miles up the road from downtown Downieville.
Indian Valley Campground
Located 11 miles west of Downieville, this campground is operated by the Tahoe National Forest and includes access to the Yuba River for swimming, rafting, fishing, and more.
Fiddle Creek Campground
This is one of the best campgrounds to access the Yuba River for swimming and fishing.
Rocky Rest Campground
Rocky Rest offers access to the Yuba River for fishing and swimming but is a little less developed than Fiddle Creek.
